Carolyn Davis

Carolyn Jean Davis, 81, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Carolyn was born August 6, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska to Herman and Gladys (Farien) Dornbusch.

Carolyn had countless interests throughout her life. Her family was quite entrepreneurial and ran several businesses. She also enjoyed many years of being a bookkeeper and was a volunteer for several organizations. Carolyn was the epitome of the saying, God, Family, Country. She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible and she truly loved the Lord. Her family was her reason for living. Her four children were forever the light of her life and all of her grandchildren were bonus blessings! Carolyn loved the United States of America and was deeply passionate about the constitution, politics and the future of our country. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, participating in political events and discussions, she enjoyed reading, sewing and making quilts for her loved ones.

She is survived by her children, Carl Cunningham, Michelle Theel (Desmond), Shawn Blanchard (Angel), Laura McCreary (David); siblings, Sally Carlson, Delores Darnell, Don Dornbusch; grandchildren David Whistler, Wade Whistler (Alicia), Amanda Whistler, Jordan Ashley, Jordan Blanchard, Connor Blanchard, Taylor Gillan, Morgan Rhode (Jeff); great-grandchildren Brandi Rutledge (Calvin), Marie Whiteley (Ethan), Natalie Croux, Noah Gillan, Asher Norris, Emma Rhode; great-great granddaughter Luna Whiteley.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Dornbusch

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help replace Carolyn's marker that was stolen.
