Shirley Jo McKibben

Shirley Jo McKibben, 87, passed away on February 10, 2023, at Ramsey Village from complications of hip surgery.
Shirley was born March 15, 1935, in Des Moines to Marlowe and Sarah (Manz) Eaton. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1953.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. and also at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
She worked for Dentists Krick, Campbell, and Brekke until she retired on September 1, 1990.
Shirley enjoyed going to Hawaii with her friend, Doris Stout, shopping, and going to casinos. Bill and Shirley loved spending the winter months in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sisters, Marlene Krick and Norma Rodenbaugh; son-in-law, Dave Atkin.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Terri (Tony) Rand, Traci Atkin, and Tammi (Rick) Lewis; grandchildren, Tenille (Tom) Hamilton, Chris (Holly) Atkin; and great-grandchildren, Terra, Talia, and Tiana Hamilton and Tate, Autumn, and Lyla Atkin; brother-in-law, Barry (JoAnn) McKibben; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Shirley.

I worked for Dr. Krick and Shirley was our Mother Superior as we young girls called her. Always there for us when we had a crisis and just a fun energetic and loving friend to work along side!!!! I have had the pleasure to know all 3 of her girls over the last 20 -some years and they are a carbon copy of their delightful mother❤ lets stay in touch Tammy Tracy and Terri🤗

My husband, Jim, and I were patients of Dr. Lou Krick for many years. We always looked forward to being greeted by Shirley. She always had a smile. And though she was a little sprite, she stood her ground when necessary! My deepest sypathy to all her family and friends. Janet Yoder
