Betty Joy Palmer, 79, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO.

Betty was born June 7, 1943, in Baltimore, MD to Fred W. and Hazel (Polling) Fast. She was also a resident of Chicago, IL before settling in Des Moines, IA in 1970. She worked as Food Supervisor for Prairie Meadows Casino and Hotel in Altoona for five years. She also tended bar at Sunrise Tap and Kelly’s Little Nipper, both in Des Moines. She enjoyed watching crime shows, and playing solitaire and slots on her tablet.

She is survived by her friends Diana and Mark Perry; their daughters - Jennafer (John) Perry-Thoren and Michelle (Chance Smith) Hancock; and Jennafer and Michelle’s children – Brendan, Markys, Johnny, TJ, and Cierra.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Hazel Fast.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, and will be followed by cremation. Private urn burial will take place at a later date.
