Donna “Jeanne” Funaro, 87, passed away on February 2, 2023, at Manor Care in West Des Moines.
Jeanne was born March 16, 1935, the daughter of Don and Neva Edgington of Osceola, Iowa. She was a school teacher in Newton, Iowa, and later worked for Farmland Insurance. Jeanne enjoyed traveling and always tried to take two vacations a year. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and never missed a family event. Jeanne also enjoyed baking. She was everyone’s grandma. Everyone that met her called her “grandma” and Jeanne loved treating everyone like they were her very own grandkids. Jeanne is survived by her grandson, Brandon (Lindsay) Prothero; great-grandchildren, Aubrianna, Hayden, Giavonna, Milania, and Enzo Prothero; her siblings Charles (Delores) Edgington of Osceola, Iowa, Kay Edgington (wife of Roger) of Hayden Lake Idaho, Rose (Joe) Harper of Muscatine, Iowa, Dwight (Connie) Edgington of High Point, NC, and David (Sandy) Edgington of Bixby, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco “Frank” Funaro; daughters, Sheila Funaro and Sue Prothero; and her brothers, Ronald Edgington and his wife Joan of Osceola and Roger Edgington of Hayden Lake, Idaho.
The family will greet friends Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 10 am to 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Jeanne will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Jeanne was an avid reader and shared her books with Joan and me. She was involved with her siblings and their families whenever possible. We have many good memories. After I retired from work she invited me to go with her to visit our brothers Dwight and David in Texas and Oklahoma. Brandon set the gps up in her car. It had "Lambo" doors. We had a great trip!
