On February 2, 2023, Kerri Leigh Kabela passed away peacefully in Des Moines, Iowa after a long battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at 60-years old.

Kerri is survived by her parents, Margo and Mike Houpt; her fiancé, David Mooberry; her children, Justin Olsen (Christina), Tiffany Wiberg (Jess), Ashley Peterson, Kaylee Brimhall (Clark) and Lindsay Likes; and her half-brother, Kelly Peavey (Lanette). She was preceded in death by her baby, Lynn Olsen; and her father, William Peavey.

Kerri was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. When she was only 6 weeks old the family moved to Long Beach, California. Kerri grew up in Southern California and spent her summers visiting her dad, grandparents, cousins, and aunts in Iowa. She graduated from Western High School in Anaheim, California in 1980. Her kindness gave her many friends in high school, and she spent many of her teenage days at Huntington Beach.

Kerri always wanted a big family. She was blessed with her 5 beautiful children named above, and 13 grandchildren, Yara, Ava, Nora, Max, Chad, Savanna, Alyvia, Jane, Easton, Piper, Walker, Thea, and Callahan with 1 grandson on the way. Kerri loved working, and accepted her dream job working as a medical secretary in 2018. She loved her boss, coworkers and everyone she worked with. During cancer treatment, she would often have treatment in the morning so she could still work later that day. Throughout her life Kerri enjoyed crafting, flying to see her grandkids, and relaxing at the beach. She made friends with everyone she came in contact with and truly radiated sunshine and kindness. She was rarely without a smile.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Hope Lodge, in Houston Texas which played a pivotal role in Kerri's treatment.
