Lucille Knapp Woodyard, 96, passed away on January 31,2023 at Valley View Village, Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 2:00PM – 4:00PM Sunday February 5, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. A private family burial will be held later.
Lucille was born July 16,1926 to Floyd and Grace (Lane) Knapp in Des Moines, Iowa. She was raised and lived her adult in the Highland Park area. She was wonderful mother to her 6 kids and a doting grandma to her many grandkids. She was a talented artist and a helper and care giver to many in her neighborhood, church, and community. She was a member of Highland Park Open Bible Church for 50+ years as well as a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, 8 siblings, sons, Stephen and David and daughter-in law Kathryn Woodyard. She is survived by sons, Michael of Minneapolis, MN, James (Candy) of Des Moines, William of Fort Worth, TX, Rebecca Hopewell of Omaha, NE. and sister Carol Roberts of Minneapolis, MN, 18 grandkids, 33 great grand kids, and 12 great, great grandkids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Heart Association.

You will always remember what it felt like to be loved by your Mom and that is a memory worth treasuring. Someone said that to me when I lost my Mom and it has stuck with me, since. Prayers to you and your family.
