This is still all so hard to comprehend. MA was one of the few good ones and her Facebook intro says it all: Living life to its fullest -- And encouraging others to live in caring and joy. Which she did every day. MA always had a smile on her face and was a beacon of positivity. She was generous, kind, and considerate, and our community is feeling the loss without her.

I worked with Mary Alice at Drake University and she always made time for a question or to work out a solution. She was a very caring and ethical person, who made working at Drake a pleasure. She will be missed and my prayers are with her family. Know that Mary Alice was one of the best HR directors I've ever had the honor of working with in my career in health care.

Mary Alice and I both volunteered for the Everybody Wins Iowa program at King Elementary. She was so kind, conversational, and was easy to be with. She led such a full life. I'm so glad that I knew her, even if it was for a short time. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.

I met Mary Alice and her good friend Mary Kay at Supreme Health Club in Madison, WI during the 1990s. We would sometimes work out together and frequently shared the hot tub after our work outs. We also met up socially. MA was always upbeat, vibrant, funny and very kind. We laughed a lot! I was shocked when MK messaged me about her passing. I havent met her husband but I know he must be as wonderful as she was.
My condolences go out to David, MK and her family. She will be deeply missed.

I had the pleasure of working with MA at Madison Newspapers. Always professional and so much fun. We liked to play jokes on each other. One day she had her husband at that time, Ted, call to place an ad for Leo's Lovely Ladies, an escort service! Well, needless to say, I broke out in a sweat and was speechless 🙊 Laughed for days! I will miss MA very much but I've got great memories. My sympathy to Dave and MA's family 🙏

I worked closely with Mary Alice at McGladrey in Madison. She was always prepared, professional and knew her HR stuff. Plus she was just an all around nice lady. I've stayed in touch with her after we both left for other things. She'll be missed.
