Fern A. Benge

Fern Alice Benge, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Taylor
House Hospice.

Fern was born November 27, 1927, in Winterset, Iowa to Claude and Vera (Cole) Reed. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to Old Time Country Music, playing cards and putting puzzles together. She enjoyed socializing and was never afraid to speak her opinion.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Delores Benge; grandson, Jeff (Josette) Benge; great-grandchildren, Jared (Elizabeth), Zach (Caela), Justin; great-great-grandkids, Mayer, Kinnick, Kohen; granddaughter, Jennifer (Hector) Gomez; great-grandchildren, Cody (Jenny), Brandan (Brianna); great-great-grandkids, Hayley and Jayce.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Flip” Benge; son, Phillip; her parents; and three sisters.
