Susan Gillette

Susan Lee Gillette, 77, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side on January 28, 2023.
Susan was born September 9, 1945, the daughter of Virginia and A.T. Roberts in Des Moines, Iowa. Sue was a lifelong resident of East Des Moines.
Susan married her soulmate, Ron, on June 1, 1963. From this union came two children, Ron Gillette Jr. and Rhonda Gillette. Sue graduated in 1963 from Des Moines Technical High School and worked for many years at Des Moines Metro Kids Care and several years at Deery Brothers as a shuttle driver. She loved taking care of children and her grandchildren. Sue loved the outdoors, fishing, and gardening. She was an avid cook and always looked forward to family potlucks. Her children, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Susan is survived by her husband, Ron Gillette Sr; children, Ron Gillette Jr. and Rhonda (Kathy) Gillette; brother, Gary (Linda) Roberts; sisters, Maria Rothmeyer and Reah (Doug) Adamson; sister-in law, Jodie (Jeff) McCracken; four grandchildren, Brandon (Kayse), Ronald Gillette III, Casey and Maya; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, a niece and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street Des Moines, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Susan Gillette.

Reah,
I have known your family for nearly all of my life -going back to our days at Willard and Woodrow.
I knew your dad and mom when they had their shoe repair shop at Tursi's.
You had a great family. I am so sorry your families loss in the loss sister Susan.
