Roberta Mae Johnson

Roberta Mae Johnson, 98, passed away peacefully January 25, 2023 at Urbandale Health Care Center.

Roberta was born January 7, 1925 to Bert and Loah Webb in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a life long resident of Des Moines and a graduate of East High School. In 1957 she wed William Johnson. Roberta was a hard worker. She worked several different jobs starting at the age of 14 years old. She and William owned and operated a resort named “Fishhaven” for several years in South Dakota. She also worked for Earl May and Betts Cadillac before she retired in 2003.

Roberta loved to read, travel and play the slots. She almost had a photographic memory! But what was most important to her was the love she had for her family. She showed that love by taking care of them and any others who needed help. She was always willing to give up anything for those who needed it.

She is survived by daughters, Joanne Engle, and Sue (Frank) Moyer; grandchildren, Amy Engle, Jeff Moyer, Rob Engle, Kevin Moyer, Kari Houtz, J.D. Arnett, Addison Arnett and Max Arnett; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walt Webb, husband William Johnson and son Jim Arnett.

Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. with services to begin at 12:00 p.m.
