Michael “Mike” Sposeto, 67, passed away January 18, 2023 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Mike was born November 24, 1955 in Des Moines to John and Anne (Griglione) Sposeto. He served in the United States Navy, retiring in 1994. During his years in the military he earned the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, and several other commendations. After serving his country with dignity, Mike became a pharmacy tech, serving other veterans at the Des Moines VA Hospital. He then went on to work repairing heavy equipment at Aspen Equipment, where he retired from.

Mike loved working on cars. He was a gun collector and enjoyed antiquing. He loved music and playing his guitar. He couldn’t sing . . . but that never stopped him. Mike enjoyed watching the SyFy Channel and SyFy movies. He and his wife loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Mike will be remembered as a kind, generous and compassionate man. He always made time for his family and friends and had no idea how much people loved him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Christie Sposeto; mother Anne Sposeto; sister Maria (Harry) Seals; brothers John (Tammie) Sposeto and Tom (Christy) Sposeto. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father John Sposeto and brother Frank Sposeto.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, January 26th at the funeral home. Mike will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
