Donald Larry Jones, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

Donald was born August 15, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Columbus and Georgia (Watters) Jones. Donnie attended Des Moines Technical High School and obtained his GED. Donnie was a hardworking man. He retired from Mid-Central Plastics. He was married to Gladys (Happy) Jones for 52 yrs. She was the love of his life. Donnie loved watching Nascar racing, football, boxing, and to go fishing. Donnie loved his grandkids and would go above and beyond for them. Donnie was a youth volunteer football and wrestling coach. Donnie had a yard that was well kept and trimmed all summer long. Donnie’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his 3 sons in the garage watching football, playing cards and dominos.

Donald is survived by his sons, Donald L. Jones Jr., Erwin A. Jones Sr. (Kim), and Reggie L. Jones Sr.; grandchildren, Donnesha Jones, Dominique Jones (Mc Kenize), Andrea Jones, Erin Jones, Erwin Jones II., Reggie Jones Jr., Quincy Jones, and Rylee Jones; great-grandchildren, Kyrie Shannon, Nashiya Chiri, and Reggie Jones III; Caiden, Zane, Sofia and Jayc Jones. Siblings, Bobby Jones and Diane Jones and a host of extended family and friends. Special family members, Terri Byrd, Michael Thomas and Jessica Foster.

He was preceded in death by his parents Columbus and Georgia, sibling: Bernice Rollins, Dorothy Jones, Julia Jones, Shirley Miller, Charmetta “Peggy” Enos, Ella Mae Cotton, Ronald Jones and Chuck Columbus.
