Phyllis Ann Duncan, age 82, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at Altoona Rehab in Altoona, Iowa.

Phyllis was born April 3, 1940, to Clifford and Cecile (Arnold) Baker. She was the oldest sibling of Bobby, Jackie, and Dorothy.

She was a stay at home wife and mother when her children were younger. She also worked at LBS Bindery and was a wonderful lunch room lady. She retired as a bus aide for special needs children.

Phyllis enjoyed entering things at the Iowa State Fair. She was a frequent winner of wild game cook-offs and was a Grand Champion for cook-offs and antiques, winning several ribbons over the years. Phyllis loved to cook and sew for everyone, both family and friends. She could make anything out of nothing – making quilts, things with old cloths, pillows, and any crafts. When her children and grandchildren were growing up she loved family time at the lake, camping, and boating. She also helped to raise all her grandchildren and loved being the unpaid babysitter. Phyllis loved having lunch at the Altoona Senior Center with all her friends. She had an open door and a smile for everyone she met.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Jon) Heard, Sue Torres, John Jr. (Vanessa) Duncan, Wendy Jo (Nick) Dodson, Tim Duncan, and JP Duncan; sister, Jackie Purdy; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other loving extended family and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W. Duncan; son, Donald Reeves; father, Clifford Baker; mother, Cecile (Jack) Voss; brother, Bob Baker; sister, Dorothy Johnson; and granddaughters, Kandi and Amber Duncan.
