Service Details

David Patrick Cibert, 62, died Thursday January 19, 2023 at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 17, 1960 to Richard and Ruth (Freese) Cibert in Ft. Dodge, IA.

David graduated from Ft. Dodge High School and served in the US Army. He earned his nursing degree from Iowa Central Community College and began a long and passionate career in nursing. He worked at several hospitals during his tenure including Clarion Memorial Hospital, Hamilton County Memorial, Green County Memorial, Trinity Regional Hospital, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Sacred Heart in Eugene, OR where his daughter was born. David continued his education and earned his welding degree. It was a skill he was proud to have and was grateful for the experience to use it for a variety of construction projects in the Ft. Dodge area.

In 2005, David and Teena settled in Van Meter in their beloved farmhouse. There he found joy in hunting, planting a huge garden, and playing with all the animals including his dogs, barnyard cats, and horses. David had a knack for maintaining the family pool and was known for his crystal-clear water, even though he rarely got in the pool. In 2011, after scoliosis took hold of his body, David was unable to work but found pleasure in his hobbies and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, together nearly 30 years, Teena; son, Jeff (Sara) Cibert and their sons, Ethan and Logan; daughter, Janine (Nathaniel) Sego and their daughters, Quinn and Reagan; sisters, Kathy (Mark) Casey and Linda Cibert; and host of so many beloved friends and family.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cindy Cibert; and father-in-law; Gerald Edward Straight.
