Bob was born May 8, 1935, in Frazee, Minnesota to Theodore and Amelia (Schmidt) Riewer. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Bob played baseball for the US Marines and the White Sox farm team. His greatest accomplishment in life was building a beautiful family that will carry on his legacy with the love of his life, Violet. He knew he would marry her the first time he laid eyes on her. Bob later told her, “I knew I loved you from the very first time we hugged.”
Bob loved the many cross-country vacations he and Vi took the kids on every year. He had a strong faith, with love for the Lord. Bob had a wonderful outgoing personality and never knew a stranger. He will be remembered for his kind, loyal, loving heart.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Violet Riewer; children, Yvonne (Rick) Batcheller, Tammy (Mike) Mayfield, Yvette Johnson, Terri (Todd) Landis, Richard (Linda) Riewer, and Robert “Tony” (Tanya) Riewer: grandchildren, Denise Berman, Jenifer May, Mark, and Britney Murray, Deven and Danielle Johnson, Betsy Madsen, Jacki Anderson, Kayla, Scott, Peyton and Austin Riewer, Martin Halbur and Victoria Elbert; great-grandchildren, Madison, Hayden, Bradley, Kale, Kellan, and Lorelei; siblings, Pete, Gene, Richard, Joe, Dave, and Mary; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; along with many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Dave Johnson (Yvette’s spouse); and siblings, Abby, Flo, Deanna, Maxine, Ted, Jerry, and Everett.
The family will greet friends Monday, January 23, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm with the Rosary prayed at 7 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 24th at 10 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street.

Uncle Bob, you were a gem. When we were all together at Weimer lake, we had so much fun. You and auntie Vi were so special and so nice to me. I have those very fond memories of your handsome face, your laugh. And your big smile.

Gramps, you were one of a kind. I imagine you in heaven finding out all the answers to every question you ever had, and still having some hefty debates with God. Thank you for the laughs and love.
