Catherine Hobbs

Catherine Hobbs, 86, passed away on January 14, 2023. She was born in Audubon, Iowa, on August 26, 1936, the daughter of Lynn and Wilma Olson.

Catherine spent many years raising her family. She worked as a secretary for Green Construction and Southeast Polk School District, an administrative assistant for ISEA and Red Barn Sales, as well as watching children in her home.

Catherine enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, macramé and crocheting. She loved square dancing, camping and family road trips. Catherine was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served as choir and bell choir director.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Gary; children, Steve (Sheryl) Hobbs, Sheila Hobbs Hardenbrook, Shari Faupel and Skylar Hobbs; grandchildren, Brian (Joanna), Melissa (John), Nathan, Jonah (Lindsey), Jamin, Jenna, Anna, Russel, Rick, Afton (James) and Travis (Madison); great grandchildren, Frank, Ben, Adelie, Cecilia, Dashel, Zoe, Jamin, Jr., Haley, Morison, Mila, Hermoine, and Arkham; siblings, Mary, Margie, Lynette, Rita, Joyce, Rob, Becky and Ron. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Wilma; grandson, David; siblings, Willis, Nadine, and Rick.

A Celebration of Catherine’s Life will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Catherine to be used towards donations to Christ UMC, the David Hobbs Foundation, and the Pin Oak Lodge.
