Elizabeth Prather was born September 3, 1929 to Carl and Hazel (Gilbert) Miller in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away on January 12, 2023 at Ramsey Village.

Betty graduated from North High School in 1947 and married Cecil L. Prather on April 10, 1949. To this union four children were born.

Betty retired from the Polk County Treasurer’s Office in 1990. She liked to travel, go to the casinos, and spent many years camping with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, Judy (Dave) Sumpter, Jane (Dan) Henman, Janet Marsh and Bill (Maria) Prather; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn Frisk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Prather; parents; and three brothers, Richard E. Miller, Gilbert J. Miller and Carl O. Miller, Jr.; and companion of 20 years, William Winter who she wintered with in Arizona.

Visitation will be from 1:30-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
