Harry William Arnold, 85, passed away on January 10, 2023 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. He was born in Blarisburg, Iowa on November 21, 1937, son of Harold and Dolly Mae (McGuire) Arnold.

Harry graduated from Williams Iowa High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Air Force shortly thereafter. He received technical training in aircraft and jet engine maintenance at Amarillo Air Force Base Texas, which served him well during the rest of his military career. He served on multiple bases including one year in Thailand during the Viet Nam conflict and three years at Mildenhall AFB in England before returning to Blytheville AFB, AR where he supervised maintenance for eight KC-135 aircraft. Harry retired from the Air Force in 1976, after serving 20 years and returned to his home state of Iowa where he served as Administration Assistant in the state health department for 20 years before fully retiring. Harry participated and supported square dance clubs during all Air Force assignments and also after retirement. He was Wagon Master for the Heart of Hawkeye camp group, it is the oldest camping organization in the state. He arranged trips and coordinated all camping activities. Harry served on Trustee committee for the Church and treasurer of the foundation.

Harry is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Keith Arnold; brothers, Glen (Rose) Arnold and Charles (Marilyn) Arnold; sisters, Sally Pierce and Patty (Jack) Vasey; granddaughter, Tabitha (Greg) Cregeen and great grandchildren, Levi Cregeen and Norah Cregeen. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Janet, brother, Roger, son, Scott Ashley Arnold, grandson, Joshua Levi Arnold and great granddaughter, Josie May Cregeen.

A visitation will be on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Madison Ave., Des Moines. Services will follow at 12:00 pm at the church. Burial will take place on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:00 am, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
