Lee Rose, Sr.
January 10, 2023
Lee Rose, Sr. 64, passed away January 10, 2023 after a sudden, unexpected illness. He was born to Jack and Nancy Rose and grew up on the east side of Des Moines, graduating from East High School in 1977.
Lee was very mechanically inclined with a natural ability to fix and, “figure things out”. He was a very ambitious, project driven person, many of which the average person would never consider tackling.
Lee also enjoyed off frame restoration of vintage cars and their “old school” mechanical systems. He was a 44 year employee of Baker Electric in Des Moines and supervised the Underground Installations Division. Lee was also a member of Operating Engineers Local 234.
Lee was a mentor for many employees entering the field of heavy equipment operation and fiber optic installations and was well respected for his knowledge in the industry.
He will be deeply missed by his family. Lee is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie; sons, Lee Rose, Jr. (Niccole) and Jason Rose; daughter, Jennifer Rose; sisters, Brenda Smith and Shari Rusher (Brent); brother, Jack Rose, Jr. (Tina); and three grandchildren, Ashlynn, Austin and Lainey Rose.
Services will be at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., on Monday, January 16, 2023 with a 10 a.m. service on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery.
