Barbara L. Halleck

Barbara L. Halleck, 83, of Urbandale, IA sadly passed away at her home on January 7, 2023.

Barbara L. Halleck was born on May 7, 1939, to parents John and Eunice Henry. The oldest of 5 children, she was raised in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. After attending college at Texas Woman’s University, she returned to Iowa to work in the secretarial field.

In 1964, she married Robert Halleck. They made their home in Urbandale and had 2 children; Mitch and Stacey. After staying home many years to raise her kids, Barb returned to work and held jobs at Fazio Brokerage Inc. and Hormel Foods Corp. before retiring from A.G. Edwards & Sons in 2005. She loved to travel and was a member of the Friendship Force with whom she enjoyed several trips abroad as an ambassador of Iowa. She was also an avid bridge player and was a 40+ year member of the Urbandale Women’s Club as well as several other bridge groups. She looked forward to her Saturday night card group and treasured going to Civic Center shows with her dear friend. But most importantly she enjoyed watching her kids grow up and fulfill their dreams and her granddaughters grow and blossom into beautiful young women.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, son Mitch Halleck, sister Martha Lundgren, brother Neal Henry, and sister-in-law Cindie Henry. She is survived by her daughter Stacey (Jamie) Mitchell, granddaughters Lauren, Megan, and Brooklyn, brother Dick Henry, sister Christy Jones and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date with interment at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.
