Cheryl Lynn (Robison) Tuttle
January 08, 2023
Cheryl Lynn (Robison) Tuttle, 67, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Born in Centerville, IA to Merrill and Carol Robison, Cheryl was raised on a farm west of Corydon, IA and treasured the time she spent working there alongside her Dad. From birth, Cheryl was a part of First Baptist Church in Corydon where she professed Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the age of 11. She was active in church life including music and youth groups.
Cheryl attended Wayne Community Schools where she was in choir, band, marching band as a twirler, and National Honor Society as well as 4-H. While in school, Cheryl began working at Wayne County Hospital as a Candy Striper and nurse’s aide. After high school she attended and graduated from Iowa Lutheran Nursing School in 1977.
Cheryl married Stephen Tuttle on June 21, 1975. They farmed in Lucas County and she worked at Wayne County Hospital. Steve and Cheryl left farming and moved to Des Moines in 1978 where they lived and raised their daughters, Heather and Sarah.
Aside from her family, caring for her patients was among Cheryl’s biggest passions and joys in life. Throughout her 30-year career, Cheryl dedicated herself to her patients at Wayne County Hospital, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and the Iowa Heart Center working as a floor nurse, critical care nurse, heart and vascular nurse, and cardiology nurse.
After retiring, Cheryl delighted in watching her grandchildren grow and mature. Cheryl faced numerous health challenges that impacted her mobility and quality of life in recent years. But she was always grateful to stay in touch with family and friends through phone calls and social media.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Carol Robison; her in-laws, Curtis and Marietta Tuttle; and her sister-in-law, Kathy (Ray) Smith.
Left to grieve are Steve, her husband of 47 years; her daughters, Heather (Mike) Nehre of St. Louis, MO and Sarah (Dan) Cooper of Denver, IA; her grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Nehre, Lily, Jack and Sam Cooper; her sister, Becky (Dave) Sidney of Runnells, IA; niece, Erin Schettler of Chicago, IL; nephew, Matt and his son, Laif Schettler of the Quad Cities; uncle, Harry Robison of Sioux City, IA; her beloved dog, Mackenzie; numerous cousins, extended family, and many friends.
Services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at The Mission Church, 12001 Ridgemont Dr. in Urbandale, IA with visitation 2 hours prior.

Our hearts and prayers are with your family at this time of loss. Cheryl was a great person always a smile and a very compassionate caring person. Thats why she was such a good nurse. I know lately she has had her struggles with her health but always remained positive. Enjoyed our visit at Steves class reunion in August. She will be missed by all who knew her. We have lost someone very special.
