Marjorie Moberly

Marjorie M. Moberly, 91, was born July 5, 1931 in Clark County, Iowa. She passed away at Addington Place Assisted Living in Fairfield, Iowa on January 1, 2023.

Marge resided in Des Moines for most of her life. She worked over 40 years at the Des Moines Register.

Her passions were taking care of her family, vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks, boating and shopping.

Marge is survived by her daughters, Pat (Max) Van Gorp and Sue (Rick) Thompson; granddaughters, Ally Thompson (Tim Hackbarth) and Ashley Thompson; step-grandsons, Dean (Wydale) Van Gorp and Curt Van Gorp; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Jordan; nephews, Gary (Mary) Shields and John (Lynda) Shields.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ethel Shields; brothers, Richard (Margaret) Shields, Robert (Carolyn) Shields; and her niece, Rebecca (Shields) Heckman.

Services will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. with a 2 p.m. service to follow. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in loving memory of Marge.
