Patricia Joyce Klinker, 90, passed away December 28, 2022 at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Patricia was born February 22, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to her parents Cornelius and Lula (McFall) Van Toorn. Pat met her future husband, Paul, while he was home on leave from the Navy. During the next year, Paul was stationed in Guam. They exchanged letters and were married while he was home on leave on February 16, 1954. They were married 53 years at the time of Paul’s death. Pat loved to be at home and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Guests could expect something baked or cooked with love whenever they came for a visit. Pat had a few part-time jobs after she and Paul moved to Florida, but only places she could get to by pedaling her bike as she never had a driver’s license. Pat loved the beach and the warmth, but she also loved her family which meant an occasional visit back to Iowa. She never had a harsh word for anyone, and she will always be remembered for her sweet smile.

Patricia is survived by her loving sons, Stephen Klinker (Kathy) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Kris Klinker (Michell) of Monroe, Iowa as well as 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her infant daughter Julie, her parents, her brother Don, and great-granddaughter Isabella.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 Fourth Street SW, Altoona, Iowa with a visitation starting one hour prior at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the family in loving memory of Patricia Klinker. Memorial contributions will be given to Dementia Friendly Iowa in Patricia’s name.
