December 25, 2022
Linda Lea Himrich, 76, died peacefully on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2022. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Linda will be laid to rest with her husband and our father, John Himrich, at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax, Iowa
Linda was born November 7, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dale and Frances (Campopiano) Reeser. She was raised alongside three brothers, Dale (Alan), Mike, and Bobby. She married our father, John Edward Himrich, in 1969. She and John raised their two children, Brandie and Jeff, in Indianola, Iowa, and were both very involved in all aspects of their lives. She worked and retired from a job she loved, and loved to tell you all about, as a CNC Operator at John Deere in Ankeny. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Our Mom / Grandma Linda was a beautiful soul who was truly the calm and quiet rock of our family. She enjoyed her family to the fullest and was always up for an adventure. Linda was a shining example of commitment and love. Her devotion to our Dad / Papa John was beyond compare. She enjoyed her time taking trips with her family, playing with her grandkids, and spending time outdoors with the horses and animals. Her work ethic, patience, and forgiveness will forever be remembered by all of us who knew her. We will always remember her kind spirit and she will always place a smile on our faces when we remember the many fun times shared with her. She went through more than most but complained the least. She was truly a blessing to all of us. God bless our beautiful Mom and Grandma Linda. We know God opened his Kingdom with open arms when her time here was done.
On behalf of her family, thank you for being a part of her and her family’s life and for remembering Linda on this day.
We want to extend a special thank you to the staff at Prairie Vista in Altoona. It was there that she was allowed to live the final years of her life with grace surrounded by a caring staff who always kept her well-being first. We want to especially send out a heartfelt “thank you” to Becky Smolik, who was our Mom’s resident guardian angel at Prairie Vista. Becky, you were a true blessing to our Mom and we will always be grateful to you. Words can never express what you did for her and our family.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Brandie (Dustin) Gean; son, Jeff (Missy) Himrich; grandchildren, Alyssa and Hank Himrich. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Himrich; brother, Dale Reeser; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either: Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Prairie Vista Village (Funds to be used for Resident Activities) in loving memory of Linda.

I'm left with some great memories of
cruises with Linda and a trip to Maui.
Whenever I came to visit, Linda always loved to show me the new kittens, donkeys and horses.
We had a lot of fun times and I will really miss her.

I had the honor and privilege of bringing communion to Linda when she was still able to receive and then to visit with her when that became to difficult. She always had a beautiful smile for us and was so pleased when we looked at the pictures of her family on the dresser. She was an inspiration and I will miss her at Prairie Vista.
