Joshua “Josh” David Boyer, 48, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on November 6, 1974, to David and Christina Boyer. In the summer of 1975, the family moved to Ottumwa to start a new life. Josh attended Ottumwa High School, the American Institute of Business, and Grandview College in Des Moines. He was currently employed by THD America where he was an Accounting Specialist. He married Brandi Uvon Parks in 1996. They produced a beautiful baby boy named Tyler David Boyer. They later divorced.
Joshua loved his son and enjoyed spending time with him and the rest of his family. He was a great photographer and has his own photography business. Joshua loved music and concerts, he was a huge Billy Joel fan. He loved to watch football, basketball, The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, and Jeopardy!!! He had a great sense of humor. He loved his riding mower, jamming to his tunes with his headphones on. Joshua loved his life, his many friends, his family, and his son’s pit bull Keyser.
Joshua is survived by his son, Tyler David Boyer; his parents, David, and Christina Boyer; sister, Michelle Leazer; grandmother, Virginia Garcia; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces; and many wonderful friends from school, work, and from just being Joshua.
Per his wishes, Joshua has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to his son Tyler in loving memory of Joshua.
