Larry Webster, 71, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022 from complications of cancer.

Larry was born September 18, 1951 in Des Moines, IA to Clair and Leora Webster. He graduated from Tech High School in 1969 and then completed and served as an instructor for the electrical apprenticeship program. He married Bobette (Ratliff) in 1971 and the couple had two children. Larry worked as an Electrician for ABC Electric and in 1985 created and operated Webster Electric, Inc.as President.

Some of Larry’s favorite things included watching his grandkid’s activities, white wine and cold whiskey. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football teams and the Chicago Cubs. On hot summer days, Larry could be found lounging in his pool, and on the not so hot days, an occasional golf outing, and car rides in his Corvette with Bobbi.

Larry was an active member of the Clive Building Code and Appeals Board and a 25-year member of Morning Club in which he previously served on the board of directors and past president. He formerly served as past Board member for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa, was a founding member and Past Chairman of the Electrical Trade Council of Iowa, past Board member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines, and leadership at Webster Electric, Inc led to many Business Record Best of Des Moines awards over the years.

He is greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Bobbi Webster of Clive; son, Mike (Colleen) Webster of Urbandale; daughter, Melissa (Gregg) Rounds of Urbandale; his sister, Bonnie Evans of Altoona; grandchildren, Alli, Sarah, Cali, Shae, Bo, Taylor and Carson; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Dale Webster.

Visitation will be held 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Animal Rescue League.
