Thomas Jones

Thomas Leroy Jones, 81, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, at his home in Des Moines.

Tom was born March 25, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked as a Foreman for the City of Urbandale in the Public Works Department - Solid Waste Division, keeping the streets clean and collecting garbage for over 36 years. Once his working years were done, Tom really enjoyed retirement. He loved fishing and reading western novels, especially Louis L’Amour books. Family was very important to Tom. He was best friends with his brothers, and they loved spending time together. Tom was the rock of his family. He had a huge heart and would do anything to help anyone, especially his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann Dykes; sons, Richard Jones, Thomas Jones II, and William Jones; brother, Charles Jones; sister, Edna Johnson; and many other extended family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jones; brothers, Marvin Jones and Donald Jones; sisters, Sharon Jaeger and Marlene Joynes; mother, Ada Clark; and father, William Jones.

There will be a celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, in Des Moines.
