Lila Lee Irvine

Lila Lee Irvine, 92, passed away December 18, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola. A graveside service at Glendale Cemetery will be held at a later date.

She was born March 2, 1930 in Des Moines to Emery and Leatha (Simmons) Brewer. Lila graduated from East High School in 1948. Following graduation, she met and married Jack Dean Irvine after his service in the U.S. Navy. There were two children born to this union, Linda and Jack Alex. Lila was a homemaker and later the bookkeeper for her family business, Irvine & Associates. The company sold and serviced HAM radios. Lila was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, East High School Alumni Association and a supporter of the Shriners. She enjoyed league bowling, gardening, golfing and spending time with her family.

Lila is survived by her grandchildren, Nikki (Joe) Shepard, Shawna Herr, Leon Irvine, Carrie Brant, Shane Herr, Justin Irvine, Christina Clinton-Smith, Stacy Wheeler, Tammy Wheeler and Terry Wheeler.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; children, Linda Wheeler and Jack Alex Irvine; and a great-grandchild, Makaela Herr-Richardson.

I remember Lila fondly from the years I lived next door to her from 1968 to 1972. She was always so sweet and cheerful. May she rest in peace.
