Joseph Wallace
November 30, 2022
Joe was born on October 12, 1992, and passed away on November 30, 2022.
Our sweet Joey's life ended as it began; adventurous and excited for what tomorrow would bring. He couldn't wait to dive headfirst into this world. He always strived for progress and peace. The three of us - mom Susan, dad Allen, and best friend Ann – have decided against a memorial service. In the spring, we will scatter his ashes in the places he loved best.
He took great care of everything in his life. He loved to bring new life into seasoned items. He collected and restored an impressive collection of guitars and other instruments. He and his friend Jared and others composed incredible music on those guitars. Another repair - one which amazed his parents - was his successful replacement of the alternator in his Subaru.
What's more, he looked past our flaws and always took care of the people in his life.
He had so much love, and he showed it.
He didn’t let setbacks or disadvantages slow his earnest thirst for knowledge and exploration.
He was at the height of his journey through life: he was making use of his computer science degree and having success with his various coding projects that were open for the public's free use as his usual means to give help where he could.
He had the biggest heart, the bravest soul, the absolute best sense of humor. We do not know
how we will face life without his amazing perspective, beauty, strength, talent and grace. We loved him more than words can say, and he was always letting us know he felt the same way about us. Anyone who wishes to offer a memorial could send it to: Youth and Shelter Services, 125 South Third St., Ames, Iowa, 50010

Susan, I had no idea that you and Allen had suffered the loss of Joey. I am so deeply sorry - words can't express it.
Joey was so very smart, and his ideas so original. Our world has lost a great soul. There is probably no loss greater than the loss of a child. We are with you on this...

Susan, I recall our discussions in my office about raising our boys back when they were elementary and middle school age and the challenges they gave us. Sometimes it seemed like life was difficult, but we persevered and raised wonderful sons. I can't begin to imagine what you and Allen are experiencing because my boys are my world as I know Joey was yours. Know that you're in my prayers and on my heart. I'm so sorry Joey has been taken from you.

Joe's was a spirit of light and love, we are surrounding you now with our love and we hope that it brings a little light into these dark days. We will remember Joe when we see the sparkle on a lake or when a surprise of nature lightens our outlook. The many ways he brought light into others' lives are still being revealed.
