Jerry Leon McKinney was born in Francisco, Indiana on November 10, 1937. His parents were Virginia Camp and Kedrick McAnally.

Jerry started working at Hitch Packing in Princeton, IN at the age of 18. He then had a 46 year career with Swift Packing Industries and started heading cattle. After several promotions he became a Corporate Manager, overseeing four plants in Worthington, MN, St. Joseph, MO, Marshalltown, IA, and Louisville, KY. Jerry retired in 1998 and moved to Apache Junction, AZ, living there for 20 years. The last 10 years in Arizona were spent managing the Lost Dutchman 55 plus Park. He and Darlene returned to Iowa in 2018.

Jerry ended his life’s journey under the care of EveyStep Hospice on November 27, 2022 at his home in Kellerton, Iowa.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Darlene; children, Marian Green and her children Dominic, Cayden, Silas, Sage and Alice, Cori (Arnie) Huntrods and their children Erin, Kate (Alex) and Jenna (Jeremiah), Bill (Jeri) Riddle and their children Samantha (Tommy), Nathan, Steve and Neena, and Truman McKinney and his children Brittany (Rex) and Ian; great-grandchildren, Shaelynn Riddle and Lucas Neely; sisters, Shirley Heldt and Peggy Rhoads; brother-in-law, Michael Jackson; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sons, Chris McKinney, Steve Riddle and Bill Riddle.

A memorial service will held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
