Rachel Candiano

Rachel Candiano, 45, passed away November 20, 2022.

Rachel was born on January 2, 1977. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1995. She worked at the Des Moines Club and Prairie Meadows. She also worked at Nancy’s Pet Grooming on Fleur Drive where she could share her love of pets. She was united in marriage to Gino Candiano in the summer of 1995 to this union one daughter, Alesija was born. The couple later divorced.

She loved cats and spending time with hers. Her favorite breed was Sphynx hairless cats. She also loved spending time with her friends. She loved music and would repetitively listen to various bands such as Blue October, Breaking Benjamin, and Slipknot to name a few. Her favorite season was Summer when she could be in the water swimming. She liked to watch true-life crimes on the television especially the First 48, a variety of movies, and late-night shows. She loved the color light yellow.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Alesija Candiano; mother, Pam Meyer; brother, Paul Meyer; grandson, Zaje Peterson; maternal grandmother, Marcia Coco; maternal uncles, Justin (Mimie), Nathan (Deb), Chris (Dianne) Coco; paternal uncles, Jim and David Worthington; nephews, Ellis, Oliver and Everett; cat, Ruger; several cousins; and a host of extended loving family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kevin Worthington; maternal grandfather, Frank Coco; paternal grandparents, Ernie and Marybelle Worthington; paternal aunts, Kathleen Worthington and Penny Monahon; and her favorite cats, Vargus and Creep.

The family will greet friends Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a time of sharing to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
