Rhett Jay Dreyer

November 20, 2022

Service Details

Our sweet son Rhett Jay, in the tender embrace of his loving parents Carson and Mollie, was peacefully called to heaven on November 20, 2022. As he rests comfortably in God’s arms, may our angel forever bestow strength and solace to all who loved him, he will never be forgotten and his presence always felt.

Rhett Jay Dreyer was born along with his sister Maggie at 34 weeks on November 20, 2022 at 12:12 a.m. He weighed 2 pounds 9 ounces and was 14 inches long with lots of dark brown hair and was so perfect. He is now a guardian angel and will always and forever be a special part of our family. With so much happiness also comes so much grief but we trust in knowing that he is being cradled in Jesus’ arms and can’t wait to meet him again someday.

While Rhett was only on this earth for 76 short minutes, those moments will last a lifetime. Rhett’s passing both represents the magic of the limitless potential a child holds while simultaneously showcasing the fragility of life. He will forever represent to us the miracle that a life lived is; serving as constant reminder not to take for granted the gift we have all been given.

Rhett is survived by his Mom and Dad; twin sister, Maggie Jay; grandparents, Rob and Kristin Tompkins, and Darrin and Lisa Dreyer; great-grandparents, Dave (Judy) Dreyer, Hazel VerMulm, Ron (Coleen) Tompkins, Mary (Gordan) Briggs, Connie (Jim) Adelman, Sue Thornton; and aunts and uncles, Maxwell Tompkins, Camryn Dreyer, and Chloe Dreyer.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Tom Thornton, Lee VerMulm; and great- great-grandmother, Audrey Vande Lune.

Private funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior.

Memorial contributions can be designated to S.H.I.N.E or the NICU at Blank Children's Hospital
