Cheri Renee (Reynolds) Hunt
November 22, 2022
Cheri Renee (Reynolds) Hunt, 41, of Clive, Iowa, entered our Lord’s loving embrace on November 22, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Cheri was born on June 18, 1981, to Cindy (Reynolds) Moore and Calvin “Kim” Gravermoen in Des Moines, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. After graduating from Hoover High School in 1999, Cheri attended Grandview University and graduated with a B.A. in Education. After college, Cheri served as an elementary school teacher at Howe Elementary School in Des Moines from 2008-2013.
Cheri married the love of her life, Larry Hunt, June 24, 2010. Together they had four beautiful children, Nevaeh, Raegan, Hayden, and her miracle baby, Cash.
After starting a family, Cheri dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and wife. She excelled at taking care of her family as she lovingly supported each of them through the passions and struggles of their young lives.
Cheri was an avid runner, lover of animals, and took pleasure in arts and crafts. The family enjoyed many wonderful vacations in their motorhome to places such as Graceland, Branson, Mount Rushmore, San Padre Island, and the Black Hills. Most of all, Cheri was a person of deep, unshakable faith in God. Though thick and thin, she clung to her trust in the Lord, her Rock Eternal (Isaiah 26:4). Cheri’s untimely death is grieved by many, but we take comfort in the promise that she is at peace with God, and we will see her again.
We would also, like to express our gratitude to the Unity Point Hospice Team of Erin Stegman, Holly Parrino, and Holly Smith. Through every interaction, our family was comforted by the love and sincere care shown toward Cheri. We often watched with awe how carefully and skillfully you took care of her. Thank you again for making the passing of Cheri, peaceful and dignified. For that we are forever grateful.
Cheri was preceded in death by her mother, Cindy Reynolds Moore; and her grandparents, Robert and Jo Reynolds. She is survived by her loving husband and children; her stepchildren, Mason and Conner Hunt; her sister, Amy Reynolds; in-laws, aunts and uncles, and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday November 30, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with luncheon to follow at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Point Hospice at Unity Point Hospice

My heart goes out to the whole family for the loss of this special woman and friend. My husband and children pray for you, Larry, and all of your sweet children ❤❤🙏🏻 Cheri was such a bright, cheery part of our lives as young friends through middle and high school. As the pastor said, we would do well to be thankful for and celebrate the time we got to be with her and I cannot imagine our girlfriends being without her all of those years ❤ My heart takes comfort in her whole story and her strength and bravery are so inspiring ❤❤ We were blessed to have her in our lives ❤❤🙏🏻

Cheri was one of my best friends. She never looked at the bad in a person, just the best. She should be who we all strive to be.

Larry and kids - I am so sorry for the loss of your wife and mother. Cheri was an incredible lady. She loved her family and she lit up when she was talking about her kids. I so enjoyed getting to know Cheri, as my son, Theo, was in Haydens preschool class. I was dreading the 15 minute difference in dismissal time between elementary and early Ed, but it gave us moms time to chat, get to know each other, and do life together. We became the red room moms and enjoyed getting together outside of those 15 minutes, when we could find the time with everyones busy schedules. Cheri was such a light and always positive and upbeat, even when she was in an incredible amount of pain. She will be greatly missed. We are praying for you guys and will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead.

I must offer my condolences to all the family and friends of one of my former patients- and a true light in this world. It was a privilege to serve you along your journey before God called you home. I was Cheris nursing assistant at the hospital when delivering her miracle baby Cash Dakota. She was a fierce woman- God fearing, determined and a distinct presence. Beautiful inside and out. She truly left a lasting impact on me in such a short amount of time.
I am so grateful that she insisted on taking a picture so Ill always have a memory of her as she was upon discharging- so excited and grateful- a true walking testimony!!
We know that to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Cheri will be truly missed but has found peace and will be pain free! Sending love to Larry and the kids- May God comfort you, and hold you close during this time! Her legacy will live on forever through all who had the privilege of knowing and loving Cheri. Sending lots of love your way!

I am honored to call Cheri my friend. I could not have asked for a better bonus Mom for Mason. Thank you for opening your heart and home and loving him as much as I do. I was so fortunate to be able to celebrate holidays, birthdays, baby showers and life with you. I will miss your beautiful smile, kind words, and your enormous faith. Thank you for sharing your life with Mason and I. Our lives are better because of you. Your wonderful spirit will live on through your children. The heavens are brighter with you there. We will continue to pray for Larry, Nevaeh, Raegen, Hayden and Cash.

I had so much fun getting to know Cheri the past 10+ years. She would bring the kids in for haircuts. We would laugh about the home haircuts the kids would give themselves or eachother. Never a dull moment. I will miss our little chats about the kids and just about anything. She was a great mom and I loved seeing what she would have the family dress up for Halloween every year. That was my favorite! She will be missed by so many. Prayers to the Hunt Family.

There are no words to describe this incredible loss. Cheri was always so happy and full of giggles (she had the best laugh) and was always willing to do anything for anybody. I will always treasure the memories of fun and laughs we had!

Dear Larry Nevaeh, Raegen, Hayden, and Cash,
It is incredibly difficult to find words to help ease the pain of losing a loved one. Larry - your faith, resilience, and never ending love for Cheri and your kids never ceases to amaze me.
Nevaeh, Raegen, Hayden, and Cash - I hope you always know how much your mom adores and fiercely loves each of you. She was an absolute warrior. Her faith and strength in the face of repeated adversity was astounding and inspiring to me. Not long ago, I shared a message with her that was shared with me during a time of loss in my life. My prayer for each of you is that you remember this: "Before you opened your eyes this morning, God had already seen your day unfold. He covered each corner of it with his grace and love and tenderly wrapped it with quiet strength your heart would need." He's got each of you - day by day and moment by moment. We are here for each of you. Praying for unshakeable peace and a sense of comfort that can only come from the Lord during this time. You are all loved dearly.
