Joyce Hoffman
November 20, 2022
Joyce Hoffman, 87, passed away on November 20, 2022, at Edencrest at Tuscany in Altoona. She was born in Middletown, Indiana on May 6, 1935, to Joseph and Edith Mauck.
Joyce married the love of her life, James (Jim) Hoffman on December 31, 1956. She was very proud of her career as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Studios where she taught ballroom dancing. Joyce was also an Avon Representative for more than 50 years and was a member of the Avon President’s Club for many of those years.
She always stayed busy, whether it was working in her garden or helping out at the church. Joyce loved having her annual two-day “Christmas Tea” event with her friends and being able to use her fine china tea sets. Vacationing at the lake house in Missouri, swimming, and driving the boat were a few of the things she most enjoyed.
Joyce is survived by her children, Jim L. Hoffman, John D. (Lisa) Hoffman, Joy L. (Tom) VandeBerg; grandchildren, Jennifer Halvorson, Nick (Michelle) VandeBerg, Jennifer Hoffman, Michael (Amanda) Hoffman, Joshua Hoffman, Matthew Hoffman, Jamie Hoffman, Marta (Nick) Trueblood, Mischa (Jorden) Elsberry, Quentin Hoffman, Emerson Hoffman, and Janae (Quentin) Erickson; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edith Mauck; husband, Jim Hoffman, and daughter-in-law, Laurie Hoffman.
Memorial services will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 E. Army Post Rd, in Des Moines on November 29, 2022. The service will be at 11:00 a.m., with visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Joyce was one of a kind. Loving, caring and one of the greatest friends I've ever had. I have missed our visits since she sold her lake house here at Lake Marie. Phone calls just wasn't the same. Prayers here and lots of love.
