Fred Houge

Fred Houge was born on April 12, 1941, and passed away on November 19, 2022.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed feeding the wild bunnies and tending to the tomatoes in his yard. He worked for Des Moines Water Works for 37 years.

Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Karen Houge; sons, Fred Lee Houge II and Rodney Joel Houge; grandson, Austin Lee Houge; and adopted granddaughter, Illsis Perez.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Fred.

Fred was a very generous person. When my mother passed away in 1988 Fred and my father Don worked together. Myself my two sisters, brother and father were all lost. Christmas came that year and Fred told my dad don't worry about the presents and bought an amazing amount of presents for all of us kids. I didn't know this until many years later it was Fred's doing. It was an amazing Christmas at the end of a very sad year.

Ive remembered many thing this. Last week,I knew Fred I grew up with his sisters,Connie&Margret grade school , brings lots of loving memories.Capital Heights ,Im so sorry for your loss I send condolences to your family. May God be with you in your time of grief.
