Tommy was the first born of twins to Linda Reaves, on March 15, 1964. Tommy grew up in Norwoodville, and attended School in the Saydel School District

Tommy was most passionate about caring for his family. He loved his boys Derek & Joseph with his whole heart. Tommy and his boys were very close and dependent upon each other for the last 14 years of Tommy’s life, and was more proud of them than they would have ever known.

As time went on, Tommy would become a supporter of the LGBT Community in support of his son, without prejudice or judgment. Tommy would be the first to stand behind his son Derek no matter the circumstances. They were a true Father/Son team. They were both extremely proud of the other as they watched each other blossom in life.

Tommy also was a supporter of autism awareness in regards to his other son, Joseph. He was always so proud of Joe for graduating high school, even though Joe thought he never would. Tommy knew that Joe was more than what he seemed to other people.

Tommy enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing, and camping with his twin brother, Tony. They shared dreams of one day going to Alaska to have a go at mining for gold, and of course at the helm of this dream was their childhood friend, Philip Edwards, who became more like a brother to them and their family.

Tommy’s huge heart was evident in his love of animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed breeding dogs, and had up to as many as 22 dogs and puppies at one time. His best friend was his Corgi, Bosco, who’s ashes Tommy kept for the last year so his son Derek could mix them with his own, per his wishes.

Tommy had many jobs over the course of his life, but was currently employed by HyVee, where he worked his favorite job as a battery changer at the Chariton Hy-Vee Distribution Center. He loved giving his coworkers a rough time and had a very unique bond with each and every one of them.

His pastor Mark Clark of Eldon, Iowa will be performing his service for his Celebration of Life, which will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
