Scott M. Plummer
November 04, 2022
Scott Michael Plummer unexpectedly gained his angel wings on Friday, November 4, 2022, at age 48. He was born May 3, 1974, in Des Moines, Iowa to Christina Joan (Mellum) and Michael Dale Plummer. He graduated from East High School in 1992 and was an ironworker since 1995.
For those of you who knew Scott – lucky you. He was a bearded, loud, gruff, giant-pawed, ironworker, who was down for anything. He was a gentle soul with a deep voice and commanding presence. He was often silly, talking in funny voices and telling jokes. Scott enjoyed camping and fishing, but his life was fulfilled by his son. Crosby was his best buddy. Scott proudly watched as Crosby caught fish and used a power drill from an early age. Scott had many lifelong friends from his school days to his brothers from the Ironworkers Local 67. Scott was a devoted father, protective big brother, uncle, and loving son.
Scott is survived by his son Crosby, his sister Megan and her daughters Kristina and Sophie, and his parents Christina and Michael. He is also survived by his niece Ali Dakovich, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who are left to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Darwin and Patricia Mellum, his paternal grandparents John Sr. and Luetta Plummer, as well as his uncles Gary Plummer and John Plummer, Jr.
A private service will be held on Wednesday, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
On behalf of the family, thank you for your love and support. We are amazed and comforted by the number of people reaching out during this very difficult time. It’s a great testament to how much Scott was loved.
