Norma J. Barnes (Kain)

Norma, 88 passed away Monday October 31, 2022 at Mercy Hospital from a stroke she was surrounded by her family. Norma was born September 3, 1934 to Burl and Ruth Southern of Valley Junction Iowa.

Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and truly had a green thumb. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee at an opportunity, she also enjoyed outing to Prairie Meadows regardless if she was playing the slot alone or with family or friends. She could lite up any room she walked into and always made others smile.

Norma is survived by her sister Shirley Gulling of Belvedere Illinois , a son Bill Kain of Des Moines, a daughter in law Lisa Stinsen of Des Moines, 7 grandchild Teresa & Cade Curtis of Des Moines, Keri &Jason Lamb of Altona, Kendra & Greg Slow of Altona, Courtney Kain of India, Sara Kain & Adam Crane of Des Moines, Kyle and Chelsea Kain of Pleasantville, and Kinsley Kain of Des Moines, 15 great grandchildren Adara Berry and Krista Berry both of Altona, Kaylee Lamb, Rylee Lamb, and Ashlee Lamb all of Altona Kennedy Salow, Erin Salow, Ireland Salow, and Kelsey Salow all of Altona, Alexa Kain, Kassidy Kain, Taytum Kain, Larsen Kain, and Tristan Kain all of Pleasantville, and Lyric Kain of Corning if Quincy Township Iowa. As well as 2 great-great grandchildren Ethan Waller and Lilith Waller both of Altona.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents 2 brothers Bill Southern and Charles Southern, her infant son Danny Kain and her 2 daughters Deborah Cory and Kathlyn Hyde.

The family will hold a memorial for her and her two daughters in the spring.
