Donald "Curt" Weatherby
October 30, 2022
Curt Weatherby, 62, of Windsor Heights, IA, entered his heavenly home on October 30, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 11 at Windsor Presbyterian Church, 6301 University Avenue in Windsor Heights, IA. The service will be livestreamed.
Curt was born Donald Curtis Weatherby on January 25, 1960 in Des Moines IA. He graduated from East High School in 1978 and Drake University in 1985. He was employed by Weitz Corp, Des Moines Public Schools and independent contractors.
Curt was known for his tender heart, inquisitive mind, disdain for gossip, quick wit and endless display of compassion and empathy. Above all, he lived his life according to James 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”…he would give you the shirt off his back.
Left to cherish his memories are his father, Don Weatherby (Carol Olerud), Springfield, MO; his best friend and sister, Shelly “Sissy” Weatherby (John Baker), Des Moines, IA; loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and his Windsor Presbyterian family where he loved to serve.
In death, Curt rejoined his mother, Shirley and countless others where he is finally at peace. Matthew 11:28 “Come to me who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Windsor Presbyterian Church and a strong nudge to give someone in need a hug and words of kindness. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

to family of Curtis Weatherby. You have our sympathy as you mourn Curts death and celebrate his life. What a sweet gentleman and wonderful friend he was. Gary met him years ago working for school board. Curt often came to our place and helped Gary with yard work or home improvement projects. After work was done we would enjoy good conversations while having a cold drink or two.and listening to music. I will always smile at the memory of Curtis singing and dancing on top of a big table in our garage. He could really make us laugh. I had massive stroke Jan. 30, 2013 so I dont get out as much as I would like but I thank God I am alive and have Gary as my wonderful caregiver. Im sorry I wasnt able to join you at service to honor Curt. I remember the touching letter he wrote for his mothers funeral. May you find comfort in happy memories. Gods peace, LaVonne & Gary Anderson

Curt was a true gentleman. He was one of my best friends and a blessing in my life. He enjoyed the simple things, like long talks on the phone, which always ended up with us both laughing over something silly. He also enjoyed writing letters and would often give me the definition of a new word. Curt was sentimental and loved anything Snoopy! He was respectful of others and genuinely cared about everyone he met! He wished everyone peace and love. Curt will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope these condolences bring some joy and comfort to you Shelly.
Curt will be missed ❤

Shelly and family-We are so sad to hear about Curts passing. He was a kind and gentle neighbor who always stopped to ask how we (and our girls) were doing. We will miss seeing him, especially walking around the neighborhood sending out peace and love out to all. Hold tight to your memories (I know our family will). Surrounding you and your family with comfort, peace, and love as you navigate life without him💗

Curt was, without a doubt, one of the best people I ever knew in my life. His selflessness, love and concern for others, and devotion to Windsor Presbyterian were utterly boundless. Curt was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Rarely does one person have such a profound influence on countless others. Well
done, good and faithful servant.
