Paul Edward Doke

Paul Edward Doke, 75, passed away on October 23, 2022, at MercyOne Hospital.
Paul was born on October 18, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Clyde and Lois (Weisenbach) Doke.
He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes football fan, car enthusiast, and loved hosting family get-togethers at their home. He always enjoyed vacations with his family, one of his favorite past times was stopping at all the large, unique landmarks along the way (like plastic fish, Paul Bunyon, and more) to make his children get pictures in front of them. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Doke; children, Jeff (Kelly) Doke, Jennie Doke-Kerns (James Foley), and Melissa (Ryan) Niemeyer; grandchildren, Josh Doke, Jake Doke, Matthew (Mariah) Kerns, Nathan Kerns, Grace Kerns, Ziona Foley, Tyler Niemeyer, Adam Niemeyer, and Luke Niemeyer; mother-in-law, Mary Wilson; siblings, Cathy (Bob) Everhart, Connie Doke, Joe (Trina) Doke, Mitch (Susan Roland) Doke, and Andrea (Scott) Hunt; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and many special friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lois Doke; and his father-in-law, John Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28th at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Church in loving memory of Paul.

Paul and I spent much time together with other kids from the neighborhood. I am sad to hear of his passing. He was always a good and faithful friend. I do not live in Des Moines, but my thoughts will be of Paul and his family.
