Evelyn B. Link, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18, 2022, at the Bridges of Ankeny. She was born in Cambridge, Iowa on September 27, 1925 to Joseph and Lillian (Dueland) Elder.

Evelyn graduated from Cambridge High School in 1943 and then attended AIB in Des Moines. She first worked for Atlas Life Company and then Banker’s Life. Evelyn met James Marion Link at the YMCA Single Adults Supper Club, later known as the Mr. and Mrs. Club. They were married on June 11, 1950 in Des Moines and had three children.

Evelyn was a sweet and kind lady with a missionary heart who loved Jesus and made Him the priority in her life. She enjoyed spending time in fellowship at the church and helping with bible studies. Evelyn was essential to leading services, studies, prayer circles and prayer warriors at Walden Point, in Des Moines.

In her younger years, she enjoyed helping her family at the farm with gardening and canning. Most of all she was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Janice (Jim) Craig; Ann Gathercole; and Bryan (Bella) Link; grandchildren, Melissa, Amanda, Michael, Shane, Alyssa and Steven; many great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years, James; sons-in-law, Jerry Gathercole and David Powell; brothers, Donald Elder and Joseph Elder; and sister, Doris Applegate.

Evelyn’s wishes were to be cremated and services will be at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines on November 19, 2022. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a 12 p.m. service to follow.
