M. Jack King, 79, passed away on October 18, 2022, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Beech, Iowa, on January 21, 1943, to W. Sloan and Arlene King.

Jack owned an import car repair business for many years named AM Talbot Import Garage. He was a talented artist of folk art sculptures, including “The Muffler Man” that traveled the world being showcased at many art shows until it was permanently displayed in a museum in New Mexico. Jack was an exceptional two step dancer and roller skater which he did well into his 70’s. He loved traveling and was very active, riding his bicycle 30-40 miles per day. Jack was also a member of the British Car Club and avid race car enthusiast.

Jack is survived by his children, Cooper King, LaRay (Ron) Prudencio, Benjamin Brady King and Gerry (John) Brown; three grandchildren, Wesley Prudencio, Cannon and Shafer Brown; great-grandson, Jayden Brown; sisters, Carol Sparks, Betty Gaynelle (Ray) Tice, and Aprile (Dave) Goodman; and sister-in-law, Darlene King. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sloan and Arlene King; wife of 33 years of marriage, Peggy S. King; and two brothers, Farol and Gerald King.

Services will be on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., with a service to follow at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Suncrest Hospice, in loving memory of Jack.
