Kendell W. Vander Schel, Jr.
October 15, 2022
Kendell Wayne Vander Schel, Jr. 52, died Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Kenny was born November 11, 1969 to Kendell Sr. and Linda Vander Schel in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Southeast Polk where he was on the wrestling team. He loved hanging out with his family and friends, but his grandson, Bennett, was his pride and joy. He was the type of person who would drop everything to help anyone in need. Kenny was a football fan, and especially loved the Texas Longhorns and the Iowa State Cyclones. He liked watching NASCAR, tinkering with his Monte Carlo, and was an avid gun collector. He enjoyed attending barn and horse shows, and loved his English bulldog, Louis.
He is survived by his daughters, Kennedy Vander Schel and Brooklin Bennett; grandson, Bennett McBride; father, Kendell Vander Schel, Sr.; sister, Traci (Brad) Buck; brother, Jason Vander Schel; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Lillegard Vander Schel; mother, Linda Jean (Goldsberry) Vander Schel.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kenny.
