Jenett E. Van Gundy

Jenett E. Van Gundy, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, while under the care of Suncrest Hospice.

Jenett was born on April 6, 1933, to Charles and Jenny Johnson of Norwoodville. She was a resident of the Des Moines area most of her life. She attended East High School. Jenett volunteered at Lutheran Hospital and the State Historical Museum. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Bill (Sueann) Van Gundy, Steve Van Gundy, and Randy Van Gundy; daughter, Jolene (Don) Stewart; son-in-law, Jeff Stewart; grandchildren, James, Matthew, Andrew, Amy, Amber, Trevor and Eathan; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Robyn, Henry, and Mason.

Jenett was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; daughter, Kathy Stewart; infant son, Benjamin; daughter-in-law, Kathy Van Gundy; and her parents, Charles and Jenny Johnson.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Pleasant Hill.
