Daniel Kauzlarich

Daniel Kauzlarich, 67, passed away on October 6, 2022 at Mercy One in Newton. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 6, 1954, son of Frank and Thelma (Dickerson) Kauzlarich.

Dan graduated from Ankeny High School in 1974. This is where he met his high school sweetheart and mother of his sons, Sherry Van Oort. They married after completing college. Dan lived in Des Moines while raising the boys, then moved to Ankeny. He loved to fish, especially at Big Creek Spillway. Dan liked to tinker on old cars, especially his 1967 Cougar, he loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. But the most important thing to him were his grandchildren. He would spend as much time with them as possible. Dan was the most dependable person, he was there whenever you needed him.

Dan is survived by his sons, Tom Kauzlarich, John (Ashley) Kauzlarich and David Kauzlarich; grandchildren, Jackson, Savannah and Cameron; sisters, Ruth Freed and Frankie Paine; many nieces, nephews and a multitude of loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, bother in laws, Harold “Butch” Freed and Gary Paine; niece, Kerry Paine and nephew Joseph Freed.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from
11:00 am-1:00 pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave.,
Des Moines, Iowa.
