Helen Joanne Frangos

Helen Frangos, 84, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2022, at MercyOne Medical Center.

Helen was born June 23, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from North High School in 1956. She then married James Peter Frangos on September 20, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they had three children, Peter, Khristine, and Eric. She ran the family business, Jim’s Coney Island on SW 9th with her husband and was a homemaker for her children.

She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her sons, Pete (Tracey) Frangos and Eric (Tonya) Frangos; daughter, Kris Judge; granddaughters, Jacey Frangos and Thea Frangos; and siblings, Mary Dianis and David Galenbeck.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, James “Jim” Frangos; and sisters, Margaret Kyle and Alice Bishop.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A private family burial will take place at Masonic Cemetery.
