Service Details

Steven Lee Nordenson, age 69, passed away Friday, September 30th at Kavanagh Hospice Home after a long battle with cancer.

Steven was born October 7, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Carl and Frances Nordenson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970 where he set the state record for the two- mile event in cross country and received the honor of being named the Athlete of the Year. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He was later an avid carpenter and member of the Carpenter’s Union. Steven was also a terrific softball player, an okay volleyball player, and a determined golfer. He taught his daughter how to drive a truck, how to correctly hold a hammer, and how to be a caring parent. He was most proud of his grandchildren and lovingly taught them how to be silly and let loose. He could also grill the perfect pork chop, he loved watching Hawkeye football and basketball, and he enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair. Steven will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Steven was a devoted partner and the most wonderful Father.

He will be lovingly remembered by his dedicated partner, Johnna Carver; his daughter, Erin Elizabeth Giromini and son-in-law, Derek Giromini; three grandchildren, Megan, Hudson Lee, and Layla; brother, Richard Nordenson (Mary); and sisters, Mary Corbin (Tom) and Linda West (Karen).
