Sara DeAngelo

Sarafina DeAngelo, age 90, passed away on September 30, 2022 peacefully at Fleur Heights Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born on August 6, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa.

In earlier years she worked at the Iowa State Fair in the summer, Woolworth, Dean Studios, CDS, and for her mother and father’s fruit market.

Sara was funny, loving, and definitely one of a kind. She loved shopping, hand making crafts, getting her hair done and always had to have her “face” on.

She is lovingly survived by her sister Patricia, brother Tony, daughter Gladys Watson, grandkids Christie (Chris) Hayes, Jamie (John) Watson, Norman (Stacey) Cleghorn and Kittie Cleghorn as well as six great-grandkids, three great-great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.

Sara was welcomed into heaven by her mother Sarafina Damita, father Mike DeAngelo, daughter Teresa Fisher, son Lester Cleghorn, and eight siblings.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. There will be a Celebration of Life with lunch being served immediately following at Vibes Dance Creations (formerly Express Yourself Dance Studio), 606 E Army Post Road, Des Moines.
