Pamela J. Goodwin

Pamela Jean Goodwin was born March 26, 1951, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was raised in Lowell, Arkansas, attending school in Lowell and Rogers. She received a deep conversion experience at the age of 12 in Houston, Texas at a church convention. At 16, she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues in Paducah, Kentucky at a youth meeting.
Following the leading of the Holy Ghost, she moved by herself to Des Moines in October, 1969, to be a part of the Gospel Assembly Church. She loved the church and loved working in many different areas of the church. She learned to play a trumpet so she could play in the church band. She also sang in the girls’ choir, worked in the library, transported saints to church, waitressed in the dining room and helped with cleaning.
She married Glenn Goodwin in 1976. As a married couple, they put God first and were faithful in the church. They were blessed with three children, Joshua, Adina and Daniel and raised them in the church and they attended the church school. She worked many hours in the church nursery and served as a nursery supervisor for five years.
She took care of their three small children, aged 1, 3 and 5, and was supportive as her husband attended law school. At the passing of Bro. Vernon, Bro. Glenn became pastor and she became a pastor’s wife. She felt very insufficient but determined to love the people and be led of the Lord. When the church needed an organist, she attended Drake University to learn the organ. She worked in the church office. She loved preparing food for the bake sales, potlucks, work crew breakfasts, picnics, missionary meals and entertaining in her home.
She traveled with her husband extensively throughout the United States visiting assemblies, ministers’ meetings, and conventions. They also traveled overseas to UK, Europe, Africa, India and Singapore visiting many churches and helping God’s people wherever needed and asked. She loved talking with pastors’ wives overseas and providing them with books and materials they needed.
She loved her family dearly – husband, Glenn; children, Joshua & Haley, Derrick & Adina, Daniel & Kate; and grandchildren, Julia, Esther, Keira, Emma, Maria and Eden. She also loved the saints of God in the church and carried them on her heart. In wakeful nighttime hours, she would pray many prayers for the saints.
The church was truly her life and she tried to always put it first.

I was shocked and saddened by the news of Pams passing. She most certainly lived a live of service to others. May God shine perpetual light upon her for all of eternity. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Im so sorry for the loss of Pam. Though she was a much older cousin to me, she always made sure I was included in family events she had in her beautiful home. She shared many stories with me about my dad and their childhood and all the Price family cousins. Im so thankful to have learned so much more about my family because of her.
As a Pastors wife, she helped me understand how to love others, even when it wasnt easy. She gave me wonderful advice on raising children, appreciating your in-laws and caring for your partner. She taught me methods to stay organized, and how to travel smart.
I know she will be greatly missed, love and prayers to the family and church family. What a day that will be!
