Roxie Hart
September 24, 2022
Roxie Hart, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. She was born the daughter of Richard and Lila “Mearl” (Perdue) Anderson on October 27, 1948, in Atlantic, Iowa.
She grew up in Lewis, Iowa, and graduated from Griswold High School in 1966. She lived in multiple locations throughout the state, while always calling Iowa, home. She worked most of her career at the Telephone Company, retiring in 2012. She was married in 1967, though later divorced, having three children whom she adored. Her life was centered on her faith, family, and friends, who could always count on a loving and kind experience with her. She found joy in time with family, and friends, and gave back in many ways, like her efforts in restoring The Ferry House in Lewis, Iowa. She participated in worship, choir, and service groups to improve the lives of others, including Mission trips to the Navajo Nation. In her later years, she cherished visits to Italy and France to be with dear friends. She loved her ever-expanding family and took great care to ensure each member had special moments with her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Christin “Chris” (Mark) Tucker, Damon “Deke” (Wendy) Hart, and Erin (Aaron) Theede; grandchildren, Chelsea Tucker, Cassidy (Marco) Finley, Ryan (Victoria) Turnbull, Jacob Turnbull, Imre Theede, and Avy Theede; great-grandchildren, Lexani, Josiah, Elias, Kyron, Kahlia, Marco Jr., Mayson, Ava, Emma, Olivia, Bowen, Maya, and Colt; and a host of other nieces, nephews, beloved family members, and friends.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jordan Turnbull; and sister, Rita Brown.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines, Iowa. When I nervously decided to join the choir at Hope, Roxie was the one who welcomed me, shared her sheet music, and made me feel like I belonged. It was a joy to sing next to her and hear her lovely voice praising God... which is what I'm sure she is doing now!

We met Roxie at the end of 1969 when we came to the States, Cedar Rapids, for 2 years. We were blessed by her friendship. She helped us a lot. She took care of our 1 year old baby ( Corrado was born in April 70, 1 week after Deke) for 10 days, while we went to Colorado. Like a sister for Maria!
We left the States at the end of 71 but our friendship didnt quit. We could stay in touch writing a lot of letters, then emailing each other, then using WhatsApp (Roxie installed it just for us!) and we had the wonderful opportunity to meet each other and stay together again a couple of times in the States what a big experience we could enjoy with the group of Lutheran Church of Hope in mission to New Mexico!- We could meet Roxie again and enjoy many experiences a couple of times also in Italy.
Now its difficult to realize that Roxie has gone to meet her loved Jesus and people that she has loved. But she is in the PEACE and will continue to help her loved kids and family and friends to find peace.
Thank you, Roxie, for your precious friendship and LOVE.
Love to all of you, dear Christin, Deke and Erin and kids. Roxie will continue to stay deeply in our hearts!

One of the brightest lights I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I wish we had more time with her, but I KNOW she's with her creator. There is nothing more beautiful than that for Roxie <3

We were closest when our children were young and we all lived in Waterloo & Waverly. Roxie was a classmate and therefore a lifelong friend. She lived a beautiful life.
